The Apple iPad went on sale in the UK just last week on Friday the 28th of May. Since its launch in the United States on the 3rd of April, this latest gadget from Apple has won many fans but also accumulated many fierce critics. Whatever the downsides the Apple iPad may have, there is no denying that it is proving popular with consumers. In terms of sales, the iPad is doing very well indeed, having sold over two million already, and rising.

Alongside the UK, last week saw the release of the iPad in numerous countries around the world, including France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland, Australia and Canada. Furthermore, it will be available in nine more countries this July. For now at least, it seems as though the Apple iPad is going from strength to strength and gathering a lot of momentum in terms of fans and sales alike.
The iPad is probably the best tablet PC released, since it has good uses, such as allowing you to browse the net, check your emails, draw pictures, play games and word process. It also looks sleek and stylish, and has a feel to it which very much emulates what the iPod and iPhone offered to the world, especially to the younger generation. Moreover, you benefit from the thousands of Apple apps available to download online.
However, I am no fan of the Apple iPad for many reasons. Firstly it lacks some essential features, such as having no USB ports and being unable to multi-task. It also has no camera. I think that in the future the iPad may be worth investing in, but in its current form there is no real purpose to it, despite what the sales may suggest (which are more of a reflection of the power the ‘Apple’ brand now has). The iPad is not powerful at all, and its specifications only compare with the cheapest laptops on the market. Moreover, it is really not that portable and in my opinion would be awkward to carry around. It seems like a super-sized iPhone. Personally I will stick with my smart phones for portability (such as the iPhone and HTC Desire) and where I need power for home use, my high specification laptop will do a much better job that the iPad.
Ultimately, where the iPad is suitable for someone depends on their lifestyle and their needs. Whilst laptops were revolutionary, smart phones were revolutionary, it is difficult to say the same about the Apple iPad and other tablet PCs, as of yet anyway. Who knows what the future holds.
For normal mobile phone users who are looking for bad credit mobile phones, a portable smart phone may be the answer.
